David Idagu Goldfinger: Award-winning Global Public Relations, Communications and Tech PR Advisor
David is a global award-winning public relations and marketing communications advisor who divides his time between Lagos and Nairobi, covering East, West, and South Africa. He has worked across the US, UK, and African markets for over a decade. He is the founder and CEO of Disrupt Communications Group, an international and African-focused full-service marketing communications agency and the parent company of BetaPR.
He also works as the Africa Regional Consultant for Allison+Partners, an integrated global marketing and communications agency operating in over 50 markets worldwide. Prior to role with Allison+Partners, David worked for C. Moore Media International Public Relations, a New York-based Africa-focused public relations firm, for over ten years, most recently as the Africa Regional Lead. At Allision+Partners, he provides Pan-African and regional PR, communications, and business development strategy, media relations, message development, and C-suite positioning for African and Africa-focused multinational brands and startups across multiple sectors and industries.
David founded BetaPR to serve the needs of early to growth-stage startups that require global-level expertise, experience, and media relationships but cannot afford the retainer fees charged by larger agencies due to the stage of their business. In order to increase their chances of attracting investment, these startups must share compelling consumer and business growth stories in the appropriate global, Pan-African, or regional media. BetaPR seeks to support these startups with cost-effective public relations campaigns by providing transparent and flexible payment options.
David’s experience includes international, regional, and hyperlocal media relations in key African markets, corporate and development communications, reputation management, and influencer engagement. He has worked in multiple African markets and with startups in e-commerce, remittances, Agritech, health-tech, insurtech, and logistics, including Copia Global, WorldRemit, WorldCover, Lori-System, AFEX, SystemOne, Konga, and more.
A contributor to top-tier business and Pan African tech media, David authored Top 5 PR Tips for African Tech Startups for Business Insider Africa and recently interviewed for an article on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the African public relations industry by leading Pan-African tech publication TechCabal, along with three other leading public relations experts in Africa.
He was recently recognized by TechCabal, Africa’s leading Tech publication, as one of the leading voices in the African media industry and he was invited to lead sessions as TechCabal celebrated its ten years anniversary. David is regularly invited as panelists to speak on topics as PR, crisis communications, global media relationships best practices and more. He was also invited as a panelist with Semafor and Financial Times Nigeria and West Africa Correspondents at the 2023 AfricaNXT conference in Lagos, Nigeria.
In 2021, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos Chapter, recognized him as one of the leading voices in public relations and presented him with the Digital Public Relations Ambassadorship Award at the Lagos Digital Public Relations Summit in recognition of his contributions to public relations practice and education in Nigeria. He is also the founder of Public Relations Academy, Nigeria’s leading award-winning public relations education company, which has been named the best public relations education company by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos State Lapriga Awards.
David is also one of the founding team members and mentors of The Future is Female Mentorship Program, a public relations and communications mentorship program for African female tech founders, launched by C. Moore Media International Public Relations (Now Acquired by Allison+Partners). He has mentored female tech founders from more than 15 African countries, including Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and more.
David is a mentor at the Founder’s Institute, the world’s most proven network for turning ideas into fundable startups and startups into global businesses. He mentors and guides them in public relations and communications as they build and scale their businesses.
